the "don't sue me" disclaimer
this service is provided as-is, where-is, if-is. there is no warranty, express or implied, and frankly no contract — it's a free thing i run for fun. i am under no obligation to give you service, keep it consistent, or keep it running while i'm on holiday. please don't sue me over something i never promised in the first place. you'd lose, and the postage would cost more than this whole operation.
how to not get banned
you may be banned for the following reasons:
- bulk registration
- encouraging others to break xmpp.space's rules or the law
- under special or exigent circumstances we may ban you for something not listed here. we will probably warn you first.
age
you must be old enough to legally enter into this agreement in your jurisdiction. we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone who is not.
privacy
xmpp.space has a robust, plain-language privacy policy that details what information is collected and how it is used. by registering, you consent to your data being collected as detailed there.
passwords and recovery
there are no password resets.
your password is the only way to access your account. we do not store it and cannot recover it. at signup, you are emailed 8 recovery codes — these are not a password reset mechanism. they are how you prove to us that you own your account in the event of a dispute, abuse report, or deletion request. we store hashed versions of these codes so we can verify them, but we never see the plain codes — only you do, in your welcome email.
lose your password and your recovery codes, and the account is gone forever. no exceptions.
